IT was one of the best participated Barnsley hospice events of all time and certainly the most colourful.

Barnsley’s first Bubble Rush attracted 1,400 people of all ages to Locke Park and every one of them had a smile on their face.

It was not a race, there were no age limits and it was the biggest, brightest and frothiest five kilometres of fun Barnsley has ever seen.

Bubblers as they are called, walked, ran, jogged or danced their way around the bubbly route - the youngest were in pushchairs.

At every kilometre point was a bubble station, where the team of bubble commandos manned the foam cannons, blowing out 30 cubic metres of frothy colourful bubbles every minute.
