AN eight-year-old girl has donated 13 inches of her hair to the Little Princess Trust.

Maddison Slack, of Market Street, Cudworth, decided she wanted to get her hair cut and donate it to the trust after watching several YouTube videos at home.

The Little Princess Trust provides real wigs, free of charge, to children and young adults across the UK and Ireland that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.

The trust had specialist suppliers and experienced hairdressers who offer wigs tailored to the individual’s needs.

Maddison’s mum Kayleigh Bellis said her daughter had watched so many videos beforehand, she really wanted to make a difference to other people’s lives up and down the country by donating her hair to help make a new wig for someone.

“Maddison wanted to donate as much of her hair as she could, so we decided to grow her hair really long to ensure she could donate a lengthy amount.

“She had 13 inches of her hair cut off and she is so happy to be donating to such a lovely charity.

“I think more people should donate their hair, both children and adults, as it goes towards making a wig for somebody who may have cancer or another illness.

This is the first time Maddison has donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust.

Maddison said: “Anyone should donate their hair as it is for a good cause.

“My hair is now on the way to be made into a wig for another little girl to wear.”

Matthew Slack, 33, Maddison’s father, added: “Me and her mum are so proud of her, we think it’s such an amazing act of kindness on her part.”
