AN UNIDENTIFIED man was seen wielding a baseball bat and blade on Doncaster Road, Stairfoot, on Wednesday evening.
According to a witness, the man used the weapons to attack a car before getting into a camper van and driving along Doncaster Road towards the town centre at around 8pm.
Sarah Willmer, 46, a supervisor at McColls shop on Doncaster Road, heard the commotion outside the shop and managed to lock the doors to keep a number of children who were shopping safe.
Sarah said: “I was in the shop and we were just serving customers when I heard children screaming outside.
“My first instinct was obviously to get the children to safety and get them to phone an adult to pick them up.
“A car had apparently been attacked and the driver and another man were stood by the car on the other side of the road, and there was a man stood in the middle of the road with a baseball bat and a blade.
Police were unable to provide any details when asked yesterday.
