A BARNSLEY man has leapt out of a plane - in memory of his mother.

Michael Hodgson, 50, of Richard Street, jumped 15,000 feet out of a plane to raise money for Barnsley Hospice.

His mother Jean, 67, died of acute myeloid leukaemia just nine days after she was diagnosed and though she didn't spend time in the hospice, he felt it was a worthy cause.

Jean had been a dinner lady at Raley School (now Honeywell Primary).

Michael, a joiner, has set a target of £1,500 and has already raised £1,100.

He did the jump with friends Matt Hall, 23, of Royston Road, Cudworth and Matt Pettet, 22, of Sherwood Way, Cudworth.
