SIX years ago Kevin Goulding was left for dead in Dodworth Road, Barnsley, by a hit and run driver.

Left unconscious in the dark, he was so badly injured he endured hours of surgery, months in plaster casts and on crutches and two years of physiotherapy, having been warned he might never run again.

But he was determined to fight his way back to fitness and over recent years has tackled a marathon, five half marathons and a few local 10K races.

Next year he will compete in the London marathon, raising money for Barnardo’s - the charity that brought up and cared for his wife.
