A BARNSLEY dad who was convicted of manslaughter and went on the run before the guilty verdict has surrendered himself to police.

Shaun Kenny Stewart absconded from Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday 5 March, while on trial for the manslaughter of his son Brent Campbell.

He was found guilty and sentenced in his absence to five years in prison.

Stewart had gone to Tyers Hall Pumping Station with his son where their attempts to disconnect live power lines resulted in 27-year-old Brent Shaun Campbell being electrocuted.

Stewart had fled the scene before emergency services arrived but was arrested by police after going to hospital for treatment of electrical flash burns.
