AN anti-immigration march held in Barnsley against a so-called ‘Islamic invasion’ cost more than £10,000 to police, the Chronicle has learned.

Battle cries of ‘refugees, f**k off home’, ‘shove your f***ing Islam up your ar*e’ and ‘no surrender’ rang out in Barnsley town centre just weeks before Christmas as right-wing demonstrators marched in protest at Barnsley Council offering support to Syrian refugees and amid concerns over an ‘Islamic infiltration’.

Hundreds had been expected to attend the ‘It’s not immigration it’s invasion’ rally but on the day only about 80 gathered in the rain outside the town hall before marching down Regent Street, along Eldon Street, up Market Hill and back to the town hall.

It was staged by South Yorkshire Casuals II member Dale Kelk who insisted the demo was about giving the town a voice on immigration. Other right-wing group members turned out to take part including a contingent from Bishop Auckland Against Islam and the Sunderland Defence League.
