THE management of the new market could be handed over to a private operator, the Chronicle has learned.
Barnsley Council is exploring options around about how to manage the new Glass Works development which includes shops, a cinema and the new market.
The Chronicle understands these options include a private operator either managing the market separately from the retail and leisure elements, or managing the whole Glassworks development including the markets.
Another option being considered is that the market continues to be managed by the council separate from the retail and leisure elements of the Glass Works.
