ALL market traders will move into the new £130m Glass Works development in November.

The £130m town centre regeneration is well underway with the first part opening on September 1 when the meat and fish market moves in.

Those traders will be followed by the rest of the market on November 3, and an official opening event will be held.

Work on Library @ The Lightbox is progressing well, and the new retail and leisure offer is beginning to take shape. More announcements are expected throughout the year, with new offers set to complement Cineworld, Superbowl UK and retail anchor Next.

Work on the street scenes on Cheapside has started. The refurbish - which will cost more than £8m - will include a new public square and improvements on May Day Green, Kendray Street, Queen Street, Peel Square and Midland Street and Cheapside.

There will also be attractive terraces made from astroturf and stone, creating a local amphitheatre to host events and performances throughout the year, a cascading water pool, family-friendly outdoor dining venues and permanent outdoor market stalls, which will create a vibrant and bustling new destination for visitors to enjoy.
