FAST food giant McDonald's has made a dramatic U-turn on banning under 16s from eating inside one of its Barnsley restaurants.

The age restriction at the Old Mill Lane branch lasted just SIX days after it was brought in by management last Saturday. The drastic decision was taken to try and curb repeat antisocial behaviour problems by groups of up to 20 young people.

Incidents included customers being assaulted, spat at and verbally abused, according to the restaurant's business manager Alison Jayne.

Schoolgirl Georgia Taylor, of Keresforth Hill Road, said the age restriction was 'unfair and rude' and that all under 16s were being tarred with the same brush.
