STAFF from McDonald's will be cleaning up an area around Canal Street near its Old Mill restaurant after asking Chronicle to suggest an area in need of some TLC.
The Barnsley Chronicle and McDonald's teamed up to invite readers to vote for litter-strewn locations across the borough. Dozens of suggestions were made but the area around Canal Street area was the clear winner.
A team will be in the area from 11am on Friday August 18 armed with bags and litter pickers.
McDonald's area manager Halina Khan said: "We're really excited to have several restaurants in the area come together, and give up their free time to clean up the area around Canal Street.
"Thank you to the Barnsley Chronicle readers who put forward suggestions. We're happy to be helping the community clean-up Canal Street, as this was the most popular choice.
"We have a great team lined up for the activity and welcome anyone who would like to join us. It's very important to us to help keep the local area tidy and safe for residents and visitors."
