A MEETING to discuss the future of an historic building in Grimethorpe has been held.

Members of Grimethorpe Hall Community Interest Company, who have formed a steering group to secure the crumbling 346-year-old building’s future, met with representatives from Historic England to discuss the way forward for the project.

Craig McHugh, Historic England’s at-risk officer, told the Chronicle that funding options are now being looked at following the meeting, which took place at Barnsley Town Hall last Tuesday.

“We are working with local partners to help rescue this important Grade II-listed building,” he said. “We are also in talks with Barnsley Council and local campaigners about the future ownership of Grimethorpe Hall. Grant funding options were discussed.”
