PARKING problems around a Royston school will be discussed by police and council bosses next week.

PCSO patrols have been taking place around St John the Baptist Primary, on Vicarage Lane, since the turn of the year after the matter was raised at by Coun Malcolm Clements at the area’s Community Engagement Meeting at Outwood Academy, Carlton.

The matter and results of the operation will be revealed at the next meeting, on Tuesday, after Jill Ryan, headteacher at St John’s, told the Chronicle near misses are commonplace on Vicarage Lane due to parents’ determination to get as near to the school as possible on mornings and afternoons.

“We worry there’ll be a serious accident if parents don’t start to listen - Vicarage Lane is extremely narrow and it’s clogged with cars,” she said.
