BARNSLEY is set to experience the Summer of Love - but not everyone is falling head over heels about it.

The Summer of Love Music Festival will take place on August Bank Holiday on the former car park in Old Mill Lane.

The land is owned by local property developer Wayne Hadfield who told the Chronicle he would like to host "three or four" at the site each year.

A spokesman for the council confirmed that Mr Hadfield has submitted a Temporary Event Notice for the event to take place on Sunday August 30 between 1pm and 8pm.

But some local residents are far from happy. One described the council's decision to grant the The Temporary Event Notice as "midsummer madness."
