A MOBILE library service used by almost 1,000 people will cease next month, saving the council about £82,000 a year.

The mobile library operates on a three weekly visit cycle covering 112 stops across the borough, including ten schools and nine nurseries.

The decision to axe the service was approved by the council's ruling cabinet on Wednesday as part of its 2015/16 budget reduction plan.

Council papers state the number of visits and books issued on the mobile library has reduced considerably over the last five years.
