A BARNSLEY man suffered head injuries after his mobility scooter was involved in a crash on Sunday.

The 58-year-old man who has not been identified, was driving the scooter along the A61 Wakefield Road at around 12.30pm.

Police say the scooter was in collision with a white Vauxhall Vivaro, an eight-seater vehicle, at the junction with Smithies Lane.

Investigating officers believe they were travelling in the same direction when the crash occurred.

The scooter driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The 51-year-old Barnsley man driving the Vauxhall was not injured.
