Barnsley have sold midfielder George Moncur to League One promotion rivals Luton Town.

The 25-year-old has moved for an undisclosed fee having this season rejected an extension to his current Reds deal which is due to run out at the end of the campaign.

Moncur has netted five goals in 27 games this season but only made one four-minute substitute appearance in the last five league fixtures.

Managerless Luton are currently in the second of two automatic promotion places, four points clear of the fifth-placed Reds who have a game in hand.

Moncur has made 78 appearances for Barnsley, scoring nine goals, since joining from Colchester United for £500,000 in the summer of 2016.

He joins close friend and former Oakwell club-mate Elliott Lee at Luton as well as Matty Pearson who was also at the Reds last season.
