New striker Kieffer Moore will keep on battling to prove the doubters wrong.

The 6ft 5in frontman joined Barnsley on a three and a half year deal on Monday after an undisclosed fee was agreed with Ipswich Town.

Moore, 25, has worked his way up from non-league football but it took him until the first half of this season to fully forge his reputation.

He did so in South Yorkshire with a highly productive loan spell at League One Rotherham United which saw him net 13 times.

They, along with Bradford City and Peterborough United had wanted to sign him permanently but the lure of Championship football clearly appealed to Moore more. He also feels this region suits him.

He said: "As soon as Barnsley called I instantly made my mind up and thankfully got the deal done.

"It's a brilliant club to be at and I am very thankful to be here.

"It's a club with some exciting potential and everything appealed to me. It's the perfect fit.

"I always believe that I have something to prove. I believe every time I step on the pitch I am proving people wrong and that is the way I am.

"I always want to have that chip on my shoulder. Over the last few years I have been here, there and everywhere. I wanted to cement a place and thankfully I have got this at Barnsley and hopefully I can kick on and show my best football.

"It's a brilliant area and I really enjoyed my time up here. I can't wait to play at Oakwell.

"I know the area now so I am looking to settle as fast as I can. I am already looking for a place."

Moore claims he can play as either a lone striker or in a front two with head coach Paul Heckingbottom keen to stress both options are a possibility.

Moore added: "Ultimately it is the gaffer's decision and I will be happy playing as a one or as a two. "I have played both positions before."
