Barnsley striker Kieffer Moore will miss the two matches in the coming week after sustaining a concussion in the last game.

Moore, the Reds’ top-scorer with 18 goals this season, clashed heads with a Gillingham player during Saturday’s 4-1 win.

He was knocked out and spent eight minutes on the ground before being stretchered off and taken to hospital. He was discharged on Sunday morning. Assistant manager Dale Tonge said: “He won’t be available for the next two games.

"We have given him time off and we’re following protocol for a two-week window then we’ll see what happens at the end of that. He’s OK and he’s back at the club now but we have to be careful with a head injury.”

Captain Adam Davies added: “It was a horrible sight to see him stretchered off but it’s great news that he’s better.”

In Moore’s absence, Barnsley could play Cauley Woodrow up front on his own in a 4-5-1 with Kenny Dougall or Mike Bahre coming into midfield. If Daniel Stendel decides to stick with 4-4-2, he could move Jacob Brown from the right wing to up front – with Jordan Green, Bahre or Ryan Hedges playing on the flank – or bring in Victor Adeboyejo to partner Woodrow.

Defenders Ben Williams and Adam Jackson have both missed the last two matches through injury. Tonge said: “Ben is progressing really well and he’s ahead of schedule but we don’t want to rush him back yet. We’re probably looking at another couple of weeks.

“Adam Jackson has returned to training this week and hopefully he will be available for selection this weekend.”
