HORIZON Community College’s girls cricket team played in the Northern semi-finals of the National Twenty20 Schools Cup.

They qualified after winning the Yorkshire pool earlier in the year and faced St Peter’s Catholic High School of Wigan.

Horizon made 147 for three with their captain and Yorkshire representative Katie Hay scoring 80.

St Peter’s scored just 57 from the opening ten overs but finished strongly and won with eight wickets and eight balls to spare.

Horizon’s Alexis Gregoriou took two wickets for 21 runs from her four overs.

Horizon’s Dan Russell said: “The girls did themselves, their school, parents, and coaches proud, many leaving with bruises from putting their bodies on the line.”
