A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a motorcyclist died in a collision in Ward Green on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to Kingwell Road, Ward Green, at about 4.30pm following reports that a motorbike had collided with a car.

The motorcyclist, a 60-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released under investigation.

A police spokesman said: “At around 4.30pm it is reported that a green Kawasaki ZX 600 bike was travelling from Mount Vernon Road along Kingwell Road when it lost control and slid across the carriageway, before colliding with a red Citroen C2.

“Emergency services attended, but the motorcyclist, a 60-year-old man, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family are being supported by specialist officers.

“Enquiries are continuing to ascertain the exact circumstances of what happened prior to the collision and officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision.”
