MOURNERS were left out in the cold after bungling cemetery staff left them locked out of a chapel.

The situation was only resolved when gravediggers used a mini- JCB to break in.

Family and friends of Doug Barratt, 92, were shut out of the chapel in Mexborough cemetery last week when most council staff were on holiday.

Douglas Barratt, of Cowper Road, Mexborough, had been a gunner in the Royal Navy, and after leaving the armed forces worked as a train driver.
