ESCAPING the Greek island of Corfu was the ‘most stressful’ experience of Barnsley mum Claire Edwards’ life, she told the Chronicle on her return home this week.
Claire and partner Jon Roughley became stranded on during her holiday from hell after two-year-old daughter Joni ended up in hospital with a severe case of chickenpox.
Their plight was reported in last week’s Chronicle when the family could not fly home because of her usually harmless infection, and they were left uncertain as to whether their insurers would meet the costs of their extended stay - something they were still discussing with insurers even on Monday once they were safely back in Barnsley.
“The whole thing has been a complete nightmare,” said Claire, 36, of Sheffield Road, Birdwell.
