A LITTLE boy was deprived of saying goodbye to his friends and his mother was left without childcare when nursery staff terminated his contract after taking umbrage at her feedback.

Little Harry Waite, two, had been a pupil at Kabuki Child Care Centre for 15 months before his mum Claire became concerned about a high turnover of staff.

His mum Claire, 35, of Scholars Walk, off Broadway, was initially satisfied following a meeting with senior staff but developed further concerns.

She decided to move Harry and gave four weeks notice. When staff asked her for feedback, she felt uneasy about it, but thought it may help the nursery improve.

But she was shocked to receive an e-mail from joint owner Christine Cooksey saying it was a ‘conflict of interests’ for Harry to attend Kabuki because of her ‘negative and hostile comments’.

Joint owner Stephen Cooksey said: “On August 3 Claire Waite handed in written notice that she was taking her child out of our setting without providing any reasons.

“The nursery manager then wrote to Claire asking for feedback regarding her reasons for leaving our setting which is normal business practice. After receiving her feedback on August 10, and in light of her dissatisfaction with our service, we wavered her notice period.

“On August 12, we were contacted by our regulatory body Ofsted who had received a concern from a customer about an aspect of the service we had provided. Following their investigation, we were informed by Ofsted that they were satisfied that correct procedures had been followed. Claire Waite has unpaid nursery fees for sessions attended.

“We are encouraged by the support and positive comments received everyday from our parents and members of the public regarding the quality of child care provided by our staff.”
