A MOTHER has paid tribute to her son who died from a rare bone cancer, calling him a ‘superhero’.

Ryan Mallinder, 14, died at Bluebell Wood children’s hospice on March 28.

He suffered from Ewing’s Sarcoma and also had autism and learning difficulties.

His mum Jill, 45, of Bramah Street, Carlton, said: “Ryan loved superheroes and he was a superhero. He never moaned or complained, he took it all in his stride. He was brilliant. He never said he wasn’t doing this or that and had all his treatment. We’re so proud of him.

“There was one bit of chemotherapy that Ryan could have had but we decided not to. “We wanted to make happy memories and have quality time with him, rather than taking him to the hospital and him being poorly.”

Ryan’s stepdad Gary Joynes added: “He always kept his smile. He was well known for his gorgeous smile, he was so popular in the village.”
