A MOTHER who was at the Ariana Grande concert with her family when a terrorist detonated a bomb has raised almost £2,000 for the We Love Manchester emergency fund.

Karen Carty had attended the concert at Manchester Arena with her husband Steve, daughter Jade, and Jade’s boyfriend Kaine Leigh, both 17.

Jade and Kaine were sitting near the stage, but Karen and Steve were seated in block 209 - just two blocks away from where Salman Ramadan Abedi detonated a bomb, killing 22 people.

Karen said it had taken her a long time to come to terms with what had happened, but she knew she wanted to organise a fundraiser as soon as she felt better.

With the help of Debbie Angel and Adam Price at Angel Voices performing arts school in Darton, where Jade is a student, Karen organised an event last Saturday - which coincidentally was the night the arena reopened.

So far, she has raised £1,833.
