THE MUM of a teenager who was injured in a hit and run accident in Thurnscoe has appealed for the driver of the car to come forward.

Blake Bailey, 16, was injured at around 10pm on September 17. He was walking along Barrowfield Road with Jessica Green, 15, when a small, dark coloured car crashed into them and did not stop.

Blake is still being treated in hospital for serious injuries - including a head injuring that required surgery as well as fractures to his leg, pelvis and shoulder .Jessica sustained minor injuries during the incident.

Blake's mum Michelle said: "It's been terrible for the family, we are devastated. Blake is such a lovely lad, he would help anybody.

"We have had lots of support from family and friends but I just can't understand what's happened. All I'm asking for is to find who did it. Just come forward."

Police believe the vehicle sustained front end damage. Witnesses to the collision, or anyone with information about the whereabouts of the vehicle, should call 101 quoting incident number 1171 of 17 September 2014.-
