A MURDER investigation has been launched after a man died from injuries sustained in a suspected serious assault.

The man was taken to hospital with a head injury after being found outside a property in the Houghton Road area of Thurnscoe at around 6.55pm on Friday.

Four people - a 36-year-old man, a 34-year-old man and two 15-year-old boys - were arrested and subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries.

A fifth man, 35, was arrested yesterday (Sunday) and remains in police custody.

Formal identification and a post mortem examination are yet to take place.

Police are keen to hear from anyone with information that might help the investigation.
