ORGANISERS of a Barnsley music festival are having a pop at landlords who they claim are cashing in on their hard work.

Dave Pearsall and Steve Clifford who organise LIVE in Barnsley say it is a free festival only because it is funded by 14 venues that take part and sponsors.

But they add: "We are aware that several pubs are planning to 'cash in' on our hard work in promoting the festival over the past three years by putting bands on June 20.

"They are of course entirely free to do so but they are not part of LIVE in Barnsley and they do not contribute in any way to LIVE in Barnsley, the charities we support or the local music scene at any other times.

"This is purely and simply about certain pubs wanting to make money from the day."
