RESIDENTS of a Wombwell care home are singing readers' praises after two musical organs were donated following a Chronicle appeal.

The organs, donated by Maureen Mitchell and Frank Smith, are in pride of place on the first and ground floors of Parkside after the care home received them last week.

Irene Clarke, activities co-ordinator for Parkside said: "I would like to thank people's generosity. We had people ringing in on the same day the paper went out, so we got in touch with the first two."

Irene said they got the idea to put out the appeal after she started bringing her own keyboard in to play, and Parkside manager Sam Readman remembered two organs the home used to have but had lost over the years.
