KIND hearted musicians stepped into the breach after a planned visit by an African children's choir to Barnsley had to be cancelled at the 11th hour leaving a charity with a £40,000 bill.

The African Children's Choir, based in a school near Masaka in Uganda, had been due to give several performances in Barnsley but a last minute problem getting visas for the children meant they had to cancel their visit and the charity that had organised the tour lost all the money already spent on the visit.

The Yorkshire Band of the Royal British Legion came forward after seeing the story in last week's Chronicle, and offered to provide a free concert on behalf of the charity Africa with Love - when the children's choir had been due to perform.
