FIND out more about improvements to a Darfield nature reserve at a drop-in session.
Barnsley Council is working alongside the Environment Agency, the Garganey Trust and the Dearne Valley Green Heart partnership on a project to improve Doveside nature reserve, off Doveside Drive, and create a new wetland on land south of Wombwell Ings.
In addition to providing wildlife with additional habitats, the improvements and new wetland could also help tackle long-time issues with flooding in the Low Valley area.
Approximately 17 homes in Low Valley could benefit from additional flood relief, provided by additional water storage capacity thanks to the plans.
A public drop-in session about the improvements is being held on Thursday August 3 at Darfield Library between 4 to 6pm for local residents to find out more.
