BARNSLEY libraries have launched a new ebook service.

The free service, which started yesterday, means for the first-time, Barnsley library users can digitally borrow up to five books over a three week period.

There is no need to worry about late fees, as eBooks will automatically be removed from the users' reading list at the end of the loan period.

Coun Jenny Platts, cabinet spokeswoman for adults and communities, said: "We hope it will encourage more people to read more books. There is a great selection of ebooks available with more than 500 titles including best-selling fiction, travel, biographies and children titles."

To start downloading ebooks library users just need to have a compatible device, such as a smartphone or a tablet, an internet connection and a valid library card and pin number.
