STAFF who work at a service which helps more than 50 families is desperately appealing for help as it cannot continue running due to lack of funding.

Forge Family Foundations runs sessions from the Rockingham Centre and the Cloughfield Community Centre in Hoyland. Its last session takes place today.

The service, which comes under the Forge Community Partnership, is run by Laura Roby and Tracy Oldale.

Devastated Laura, of Headlands Road, Hoyland, said: “The sessions not only offer a safe, friendly and stimulating environment for the child but also massively support and benefit the parents and carers too.

“We decided to set up a Go Fund Me page to attempt to raise £4,000 to help keep the sessions going for a further three months and in this time we can look for grant funding.

“It’s just such a shame for the area and this is obviously a last minute thing but we thought about it and we couldn’t sit back and not do anything.”

The group runs five sessions a week and the number of children varies but sees more than 50 children attend per week. The age range is from newborn up to four-years-old.

“Our Go Fund Me page will be running until after Easter to see if we can raise the funds we need,” said Laura.

“If we don’t hit our target we will be donating it to charity instead.”
