A NEW project to reduce social isolation for over 50s has launched in Cudworth.

Together in Cudworth, which is a joint scheme between the North East Area Team and Age UK Barnsley, takes place at the village library every Thursday from 12pm until 2.30pm.

It is a chance for people to make new friends, enjoy gentle exercises and eat lunch together.

Coun Jenny Platts, cabinet spokesman for communities, said: “Groups like this are really important to our communities. There are lots of people that for different reasons find themselves lonely and isolated.

“These types of activities are a great opportunity for people to get out, meet new people and try something new.”
