A NEW pub could open in Hoyland if Barnsley Council approves of the plan in a move which would help reverse the loss of bars in the area and could also contribute to the revitalisation of the district.

Businessman Thomas Toumazou wants to covert a disused shop in the town centre on King Street into what he describes as a ‘micro pub’ with the objective of providing an alternative venue to those which already exist in the district.

His proposal is for a bar which would promote conversation - with no plans for amplified music, television screens or gaming machines.
