A NEW pub could open in Hoyland if Barnsley Council approves of the plan in a move which would help reverse the loss of bars in the area and could also contribute to the revitalisation of the district.
Businessman Thomas Toumazou wants to covert a disused shop in the town centre on King Street into what he describes as a ‘micro pub’ with the objective of providing an alternative venue to those which already exist in the district.
His proposal is for a bar which would promote conversation - with no plans for amplified music, television screens or gaming machines.

It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
