Barnsley FC already holds special memories for new Reds signing Lloyd Isgrove and he has the chance to make more after arriving on loan.

The 22-year-old winger – who made his first career start at Oakwell in Southampton's 5-1 League Cup success in 2013 – joined Barnsley on Saturday and played in the 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood later that day.

The former Sheffield Wednesday and Peterborough loanee has signed a deal until January after flying up on Friday from Southampton for whom he has played six times but only once in the Premier League, at Liverpool last season.

"Lloyd did well against Fleetwood," said head coach Lee Johnson.

"He's only small but he's tenacious and passionate with some speed and some quality. He was a part of almost all our good play.

"With Marley Watkins and Ryan Williams out injured and Kadeem Harris due to go back (to Cardiff after his loan expires), we needed another winger in the ranks. It was good to get him in and we appreciate that from Southampton. It was good of him to come as well because he was in the Championship last season (with Sheffield Wednesday).

"He was about as experienced a winger as we could get and he's only 22 years old."
