A PAIR of professional actors are opening up a new drama school in town to teach people the tricks of the trade.

James Lewis, 35, who has starred in TV shows such as Scott and Bailey and Coronation Street along with his partner Liz Simmons, 34, who was the writer of the play Twelve Miles North of Sheffield, are together starting a new acting school called the Northern Actors workshop.

The workshop will teach people of all abilities between the ages of 17 and 50-plus and will give them the skills they need to start in the acting industry.

James, said: “This is going to be a chance to give people acting classes in Barnsley including stage and screen work. We will create classes for anyone who wants to build up some experience, try something new or build confidence.”

Both James and Liz attended drama schools and studied acting. They hope their classes will also be a social opportunity for anyone who has an interest in acting and would like to meet new people.

The classes will be held every Tuesday evening, starting next week, at Unit 30-31 on the Maple Estate off Stocks lane, Barnsley.

The 50 plus group meets from 5pm to 6pm, the 17-21 group meets 6.15pm to 7.45pm and the group for anyone 21 or over meets 7.45 to 9.15pm.
