It's never too late to find love, as one Royston couple who got married on Monday proved.

Len and Pam Vicary, who live in a sheltered accommodation flat at Westmeads, were married at the town hall after Len proposed in September.

They had both lived in Westmeads and started spending more time together following the death of Pam's husband, Fred Warriner, in June.

Pam, 59, originally from Carlton, said: "It was a lovely day. Everyone was so happy and we had a lovely time."

Pam wore a lilac dress and jacket and Len, 77, from Barnsley, wore a matching purple tie.

Her son, Matthew Young, and Len's daughter, Joanne Vicary, went to the wedding and there was a reception afternoon at Westmeads.

Pam said Len did not tell her of his feelings until after Fred had died and proposed after they enjoyed watching Andre Rieu DVDs and taking day trips together.

The couple had originally planned to get married next year, but then thought 'why wait?'

Pam added: "Len has been so kind and helpful. He's been like a rock and we enjoy being together.

"We've sat and chatted lots and he's helped me through."

Pam has now moved in with Len, and the couple are looking forward to a trip to Yarmouth.
