Most of the amateur football in Barnsley is expected to be called off once again this weekend.

The council have announced there will be no play on their pitches for the second week in a row due to saturated surfaces and more rain forecasted.

Ten matches are still scheduled to go ahead on pitches owned privately or by the Education Authority but they may also be called off by referees on Sunday.

Saturday football is also under threat including three Barnsley derbies. There is a pitch inspection at 9.30am on Saturday at Shaw Lane ahead of Aquaforces North East Counties match with Worsbrough Bridge but it is very unlikely to go ahead. County Senior League matches are also under threat including the all-Barnsley games between Penistone Church and Athersley Rec reserves and Wombwell Main and Houghton Main.

Wombwell Main's Sunday side are hoping to move their Sheffield Senior Cup match to a different venue so they can play Toll Bar at the fifth attempt.
