THE number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Barnsley has surpassed the 1,000 mark.
There has been a total of 1,008 confirmed cases in the borough, as of June 10, meaning one in every 244.9 people have contracted the virus.
As of May 29 there’s been a total of 204 coronavirus-related deaths in Barnsley - 22 per cent of all deaths from February 29 to May 29 involved Covid-19.
The UK currently has the highest official death toll in Europe, and the second-worst in the world - though the government and many experts say it is too soon to make international comparisons.
The number of new coronavirus cases has continued to fall.
