OAKWELL'S former goalkeeping hero Luke Steele took time out from preparing for the Champions League to visit his old friends in Barnsley last week.

He's now a star player at in-form Greek side Panathinaikos but the 30-year-old still holds Barnsley FC and the town very close to his heart - despite having no link to Barnsley when he made his famous debut for the reds in their win at Liverpool in the FA cup in February 2008.

Luke has now set up The Vision Foundation, a charity based in Barnsley he started after meeting a blind youngster who was on a trip to Oakwell. Luke attended a special visually impaired cricket event at Joseph Locke Primary on Monday.
