TERRY Burrows is looking forward to celebrating his 20th birthday - he’s only had to wait 80 years for it.

Leap-year baby Terry is probably the oldest ‘20-year-old’ octogenarian in town, having been born on February 29 - a date which only comes around every four years.

A leap year occurs to help synchronise the calendar year with the solar year - the length of time it takes the Earth to complete its orbit about the sun, which is about 365 and a quarter days.

Terry, of Lansdowne Crescent, Darton, loves the oddity of being a ‘leapling’ - the name given to those born on the special day - and makes the most of his unusual birthday.
