ENFORCEMENT officers collected more than £5,000 in fines in the South Area Council wards during the final three months of 2017.

The Kingdom Security contract, tendered by the South Area Council, saw £5,370 in fouling and littering fines dished out between October 1 and December 31 last year.

The figure was revealed in a report due to be presented to the area council members on Friday next week.

A total of 144 fixed penalty notices and 34 parking charge notices have been issued in the South area wards, which cover Wombwell, Darfield, Hoyland, Elsecar and surrounding areas.

Kingdom scored green ratings for all categories in the performance review except overall satisfaction with delivery against contract, for which they received an amber rating.

This is explained as being due to them meeting only 75 per cent of 1,868 hours on patrol, rather than the 85 per cent stated as the minimum target.

Kingdom stated this was due to the reduction in staff to allow for the new contract of two rather than four officers, which begins on April 1.
