AN out-of-school club in Carlton is celebrating after bagging another ‘good’ rating following its latest Ofsted inspection.

The education watchdog visited Carlton Kids’ Klub, which is based in the grounds of Carlton Primary Academy, in December and published its report this week.

Inspectors praised the group’s manager, Hayley Findlow, and her five staff, saying the provision - which caters for 24 youngsters between the ages of three and 12 - was well-run and popular with children.

The report said: “The manager focuses on continual improvement. She reflects critically on the quality of the club and seeks the views of teachers, parents and children.

“This has resulted in children contributing to the newsletter and extended opportunities for them to continue to build on their skills in mathematics and literacy.

“Children attending the club during term time attend the school that the club runs from so it helps them to quickly familiarise themselves with the setting and its staff.

“There is a broad age range of children attending the group and older children are encouraged to engage with the younger ones.

“Children enter the club and staff greet them warmly - they join their friends and quickly choose what they want to do. The younger children are happy in the knowledge that if they need help or support, staff are nearby.”

The club, which is open Monday to Friday from 7am while 8.45am and from 3pm to 6pm during term time, also opens 11 hours a day during holidays for children to use.

Manager Hayley, who founded the group in 2004, added: “We received a good rating last time and it’s very positive that we have been found to be that again. It’s a reward for the staff, who put in so much hard work to make children happy at the club.”
