Chris O'Grady missed a penalty as Barnsley drew 0-0 with Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

O'Grady's first half spot-kick was saved by former Reds loanee Ross Turnbull, who dove to his right to push the ball to safety.

Marcus Pedersen had been clumsily brought down by Rovers defender Bongani Khumalo after good work on the left by Paddy McCourt.

David Perkins also went close for Barnsley in the first half but his effort from the edge of the box was tame, while Jean M'Voto – who almost signed for Doncaster in the summer – headed wide from a Tom Kennedy corner.

After the interval, David Flitcroft's side again dominated but failed to work Turnbull. M'Voto again missed a good chance while substitute Tomasz Cywka headed narrowly wide in the dying minutes.

Barnsley had an appeal for a second penalty turned down when McCourt danced around five Rovers defenders before being brought down in the box but the referee gave a free-kick the other way.

The Reds have only won twice in their last 15 league games but the draw stretches their unbeaten run to four games.
