ABOUT ten arrests were made in a major police operation across Barnsley on Wednesday involving more than 200 police officers and other officials.

Operation Duxford was aimed at flushing out criminal activity, protecting vulnerable people and engaging with the local community.

It involved dozens of raid across the borough, mostly focussing around the town centre area, and involved the DVLA, immigration officials and council licensing enforcement officers working alongside police and PCSOs.

The Chronicle joined a team led by Sgt Matt Mitchell on a series of drugs warrant raids set up following various intelligence reports and information from concerned members of the public.

The morning involved smashing through several front doors with a battering ram, taking occupants and their neighbours by surprise.
