THE man whose wife danced into everyone’s hearts on the hit television show Our Dancing Town, has died at their home.

Ken Dawson, 76, died at his home in Broadway with Joan, his wife of 54 years, at his side.

Ken, who had vascular dementia, had been in hospital for five weeks, but was allowed home to be with Joan and died just days later earlier this month.

Joan, 73, and Ken, met West End choreographer Steve Elias when he visited the Barnsley Independent Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support (BIADS) premises in Barnsley looking for people to take part in the BBC show.

“He asked for us to put our hands up if we wanted to take part and I did,” she said.
