Barnsley's recruitment has to be better for next season, says head coach Paul Heckingbottom.

Although the Reds have signed a series of players from the lower leagues who have been very successful, their boss says they must bring them in at a greater rate if they are to continue to sell them on and still look to compete in the Championship.

He said: "We've already picked out players who we might bring in in the summer, but not enough and we have to be better at that. The coaching and medical and analysis staff have been performing really, really well but we have to get every department performing to that standard.

"We've not been performing well enough in recruitment and we have to get better.  That's something we are focusing on.

"We have to find the players and develop the players at the same rate as we are going to sell them. One way around that is to not sell as many, the other way around it is to make our recruitment better."
