SOUTH Yorkshire ranks in the UK’s top ten for the number of shoplifting incidents, according to the latest research from data.police.uk.

The data showed that South Yorkshire ranked ninth out of 42 police forces across England and Wales between April 2017 and March 2018.

The region reported 12,080 incidences of shoplifting, a decrease of one per cent compared with last year’s figures.

Nation-wide, there was a total of 378,725 incidents reported in the period, an increase of four per cent.
